This is my Visitor and Resident Map, leave a comment about what you think!
Before I built my visitor and resident map, I had no idea I was using so many social media platforms. There are many common applications which are Netflix, Twitch, Instagram, and so on. But also some uncommon applications. NetEase Cloud Music is a music application that has a lot of musicians who are not popular. CSDN is the Chinese version of Stack Overflow, it’s an IT technology community, I use it to learn the concepts from class that I didn’t fully understand.

Hi there. Great job on your map! When I was making my map I found myself putting so many of the apps in the upper right part of the map, I think it is interesting how you put many of yours on the upper left part- just shows how we all use similar apps so differently. Many of your applications I have never heard of- thanks for sharing them!!

That’s a tricky comment, since I’m not using many applications by personal, many of them are for studying. That’s the reason why I put lots of them on the upper left, and some of them are populer in China.

Hey Linke, I really like your drawings. You have put Tiktok in a balanced position of personal and institutional. My perception of Tiktok is that it is a pure entertainment platform. I’m curious about which role TikTok can play in study or work.

Based on other students’ and your resident maps, I think most of us use basically the same platforms and categories of social media. The resident map is a very effective way to indicate one’s attitude toward various social media platforms. By looking at other students’ resident maps I found a lot of software and websites that could be of practical help to me. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Linke, it is very interesting for me to see your visitor and resident map because I’m also using some of these apps but in a different way. For example, I’m also using Tiktok, but I’m mainly using it for visitor mode and personal purpose instead of resident mode and both personal and institutional purposes. However, there is also something that we share in common. I also use YouTube in visitor mode and for both personal and institutional purposes. That’s because I do not interact with people on YouTube such as leaving comments or giving likes to them and I use it for both watching TV dramas & variety shows and watching explanation videos of points that I don’t understand in my courses.
